Roads Crew Member

Description
- Operate line trimmers, mowers, blowers, chainsaws, chippers, and other assigned equipment to maintain road shoulders, rights-of-way, and common areas.
- Remove debris from roads, ditches, culverts, and common areas using appropriate equipment and hand tools.
- Inspect equipment before and after use, maintain proper fuel and fluid levels or gas mixtures as required, and promptly report equipment problems or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
- Clean and maintain ditches, culverts, and drainage areas to ensure proper water flow and reduce roadway hazards.
- Clear brush, small trees, and undergrowth from lots and rights-of-way using chippers, saws, and other assigned equipment.
- Assist with road, shoulder, and ditch maintenance work as assigned, including identifying and reporting damage, erosion, washouts, or other unsafe conditions.
- Assist in maintaining guardrails, fencing, and related roadside structures, including basic repair and painting as needed.
- Install, maintain, and report issues with traffic signs, markers, and other roadway safety devices.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and operate all tools and equipment in accordance with safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Perform other related duties and equipment operation tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Perform all assigned set-up, work area maintenance, clean up and closedown procedures and duties.
- Exhibit courteous, pleasant conduct with all people always.
- Operate larger machinery, if trained, including but not limited to excavators, skid steers, dump trucks, backhoes, crack sealing, paving, milling and grading.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid Driver's License; experience safely operating work-related equipment and utility vehicles is preferred.
- Knowledge of the safe operation, basic care, and routine maintenance of equipment such as trimmers, blowers, mowers, chainsaws, chippers, and similar grounds or road maintenance equipment is required.
- Must be available to work overtime and weekends when business needs arise, and be able to stand, stoop, bend, and lift 50 lbs. while working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions, work safely around traffic and moving equipment, and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
