If the duty location is within the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the position will be included in the Local 12, AFGE bargaining unit. This is not a remote work position. The selectee will report to an assigned DOL office location on a regular basis and is eligible for participation in telework as determined by management in accordance with DOL policy. Based on agency needs, additional positions may be filled using this vacancy. - Coordinate and/or develops new program objectives and legislative and regulatory initiatives to facilitate the achievement of VETS goals and objectives.
- Develop new programs and/or policies to assist national and regional offices in addressing reoccurring problems related to the administration and enforcement of laws under VETS' purview.
- Review and analyze statutes and executive orders to provide guidance to the agency concerning the implementation of new program assignments and develops implementing regulations.
- Develop policy recommendations based on research studies, administration, and legislative priorities, and DOL priorities for consideration by key agency officials.
- Work with leadership and program staff to develop and formulate interpretations and policies regarding the application of statutes administered and enforced by VETS.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
- Experience analyzing legislation, policies, and executive orders affecting agency programs and formulating interpretations.
- Experience developing and formulating policies regarding the application of statutes administered by an agency.
- Experience conducting research and preparing policy recommendations and briefings.
- Experience participating in planning meetings with high-level officials to develop goals, strategies, and implementing regulations.
