Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong assessment skills, critical thinking, communication, and organization. Ability to interpret cardiac strips. Experience with titrating various drips. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a cardiac intermediate care unit. The unit consists of 20 private, monitored beds. Patient-nurse ratios are typically 1:3 but may increase to 1:4 depending on patient acuity. Common diagnoses include heart failure, trached and ventilated patients, and those recovering from various cardiac procedures. The nurse will care for stepdown patients, as well as overflow patients from critical care. Proficiency with cardiac monitoring equipment and intervention tools is essential. Experience with Swan Ganz catheters, external pacemakers, and various intravenous lines is necessary. The nurse must be prepared to float to higher acuity areas if required. Weekend and holiday coverage is expected on a rotating basis. Patients may require ventilation support, including CPAP, BPAP, and heated high flow. Nurses are expected to read and interpret cardiac monitoring strips independently. A charge nurse and house supervisor will be present during each shift. Patient care techs will assist with direct patient care responsibilities. The nurse will be required to work collaboratively within the healthcare team. This position demands a compassionate attitude and effective time management skills.
