About the Position

Job Title: CVICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: CVICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in CVICU License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS preferred, CCRN a plus Must-Have: - Minimum of 2 solid years of CVICU experience - Ability to manage a fast-paced, high-stress environment - Strong assessment skills and critical thinking - Excellent communication and organizational skills - Ability to follow protocols and orders as written - Motivated with a positive attitude and behavior Description: This position involves working in a CVICU setting with a bed capacity of 20, all private and monitored. Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:1, 1:2 to 2:1, depending on patient acuity. The patient population includes post open-heart surgical patients, as well as various cardiovascular conditions. Technological proficiency is required, including experience with specialty intervention equipment such as IABPs, Impellas, Swan Ganz catheters, and ECMO, among others. Registered Nurses will be expected to titrate multiple different drips including dopamine, dobutamine, and vasopressin, among others. There are charge nurses and house supervisors available 24/7 for support. Respiratory therapists and monitor techs are available round the clock. The team utilizes dynamic care practices including standard and specialized monitoring protocols. Shifts are 12 hours, and every other weekend and holiday shifts are required. Nurses are expected to interpret cardiac strips. Floating to other levels of care may be necessary. Appropriate professional attire is required. Team members are expected to be proficient in cardiovascular ICU practices and participate actively in patient care responsibilities.
