Assistant, Kindergarten

Summary: The Assistant, Kindergarten Associates Degree Level, will provide academic, socio-emotional, and/or behavioral support at the direction of the kindergarten teacher. The Assistant, Kindergarten Associates Degree Level, will provide instructional and supervisory responsibilities while working with students one-on-one, with a small or whole group of students. The Assistant, Kindergarten Associates Degree Level, will report to and is evaluated by the principal and kindergarten teachers. Responsibilities: Prepares materials for instruction. Provides planning time for teachers to include outdoor activities, rhythm activities, story time, etc. Provides lunchroom assistance. Supervises school-based routines such as dismissal, restroom, etc. Performs any other duties as assigned. Language Skills: Reads and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Writes simple correspondence. Effectively presents information in one-on-one and small group situations. Mathematical Skills: Adds and subtracts two digit numbers and multiplies and divides with 10s and 100s. Performs these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Reasoning Ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Deals with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Computer Skills: Microsoft Office. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical Activities: Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, talking, and hearing. Lifting Demands: Up to 55 pounds.
