Description: The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for patients during a designated timeframe. This role entails providing care specifically in the Invasive Lab. The patient population consists of individuals requiring an invasive cardiology or invasive radiology study. The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures. This role provides a valuable service to both the patient and the team. Essential Functions include: Administering contrast material, when applicable, according to the physician's request. This may involve utilizing an existing IV line or performing venipuncture to place an IV line. Recognizing and responding to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions is crucial. Anticipating setup and needs for invasive procedures is essential. Assisting with inventory and supplies is part of the role. Checking for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position is mandatory. Compiling pertinent clinical information related to lab and pathology is required. Administering medication in compliance with the scope of practice is expected. Accurate and complete documentation is necessary. Explaining procedures to patients while providing comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality is key. Performing all essential functions of the Invasive Lab Radiologic Technologist is required. Performing on-call duties and/or working variable shifts may be necessary to meet department needs. Floating to all procedural areas is a requirement. Maintaining a clean and neat work area is expected. Demonstrating competence in the operation of imaging, physiological monitoring, and related equipment is essential. Performing basic troubleshooting for this equipment is expected. Department-Specific Job Functions include: Working around and maintaining a sterile field during procedures is necessary. Administering and withholding contrast and treatment as appropriate is part of the role. Assessing patients for allergies is critical. Functioning as a scrub and monitor technician on a rotating basis during procedures is required. Assisting the physician during interventional procedures is essential. Taking interventional call may be required.
