Control Systems Technician

Job Description Perform assigned advanced system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools. Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control problems, including more complex and advanced controls systems, IP Controllers and Server configurations Respond to warranty calls and serve as a front-line technical resource for escalated issues. Perform advanced commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (i.e., sensors, actuators, etc.), perform system startup and sequence of operation verification, and complete all required commissioning documentation. Keep management and the JCI contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues. Calibrate systems requiring electronic test equipment. Complete administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation. Document changes and provide information for as-built documentation. Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Demonstrate the ability to accurately and efficiently start up and commission more advanced controls systems, make program modifications, update the control database, create graphics, trends and alarms Provide mentoring and basic leadership to entry-level and less experienced technicians as assigned. Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training; maintain a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety. Skills and Requirements 2-year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field — or equivalent industry experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry, with demonstrated progression within technical roles Demonstrated, proven experience starting up and commissioning advanced/complex controls systems, beyond routine or basic commissioning work. Experience with BACnet, Metasys, and IP networking for building automation systems. Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, and peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques. Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and outside contacts in an ethical and professional manner. Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Leadership and mentoring skills to guide entry-level technicians and support the activities of mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical Building Automation equipment. PC experience required, including the ability to program HVAC-related software. Advanced commissioning and diagnostics on more complex system architectures, versus standard commissioning at the Tech III level. Working knowledge of BACnet, Metasys, and IP networking protocols for systems integration. #J-18808-Ljbffr
