As a full-service CPA firm, we provide all aspects of accounting to our clients, including tax preparation and planning, attest services, bookkeeping, IRS representation, and business consultation, read on for more information. Assurance Manager & Supervisor Responsible for the overall attest engagements. This position reports to the partners. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may perform other related duties as required to meet ongoing needs. Our Vision for this position We envision our Assurance Manager & Supervisor to not only be a senior assurance technician who can complete an Accounting or Assurance engagement to the level of minimal review & rework by the tax manager/partners, but also someone who can coordinate & manage assurance engagements (and other returns & engagements as needed in the absence of another Manager). This unique person would need to be super organized and begin documenting our workflows, standardizing our work product and internal processes, bringing consensus among the staff accountants and championing a unified "P&R way" of doing things. He/she would also be responsible for being the "go-to" expert on the various ASSURANCE apps & tools available to streamline our ASSURANCE offerings such as Confirmation.com, Workpaper CS, ProfitCents, CheckPoint Research, etc. This person will not only be training the new staff on our "App Stack" but also identifying clients who could benefit from a more streamlined process (Apps), meeting with and selling those clients on the benefit, on-boarding those clients and then transitioning the ongoing maintenance of those clients to the accounting staff. The ultimate goal would be to become an ASSURANCE resource not only for the internal staff but for our clients as well. The conversion of manual client accounting processes into a standardized, possibly more automated, workflow either supervised or assisted by the firm. Cross Selling/upselling, developing and supervising “CAAS” & “ASSURANCE” engagements under the Thomson Reuters Practice Forward model will be a big part of the job function. Duties & Responsibilities: Accountable for the management and completion of audits, reviews, compilations, and agreed‑upon engagements. Develop and implement auditing procedures and programs. Supervise and conduct independent audits for for‑profit and non‑profit clients, 401(k) audits, and single audits in an electronic format. Implement Standards updates to all the affected firm personnel to insure everyone is compliant with current standards. Maintain Quality Control Program and Peer Review Program. Provide supporting workpapers and assistance to tax department to enable them to efficiently prepare the related tax returns of attest engagement clients. Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage and train employees in the auditing and accounting department. Employees from the tax department may also be utilized in auditing procedures as necessary. Being sensitive to the need for cooperation between departments and the time constraints other staff members may be experiencing is critical. Provide status updates to Audit Partner of all active engagements on a regular basis. Education/Experience: CPA license. 5+ years of financial statement audit experience at a public accounting firm. Public accounting experience must be recent, at most 3 years removed. Requirements: Experience working with privately held clients is a plus. Industry experience is strongly desired in these major areas: Manufacturing Construction Not‑for‑profit "Single audit" and GAAS experience needed. Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively delegate. Proficiency needed in the following applications: QuickBooks PPC Practice Aids Workpapers CS or other electronic based audit software Excel and Word Interpersonal Skills: Exhibits time management and organization skills. Develops entrepreneurial approach to client service and good working relationships with client personnel. Builds new and existing client relationships and demonstrates basic knowledge of clients’ businesses. Develops means of communication to clients and persons responsible for maintaining relationship with clients. Accepts volunteer positions in community organizations. Continues to develop industry expertise. Understands firm ethics and demonstrates them consistently. Develops a broad general knowledge of economic, political, and business conditions. Performs such other duties as may be assigned. Assurance Accountant Responsible for the overall attest engagements. This position reports to the Assurance Manager. CAAS Supervisor/Manager This individual will lead and manage multiple tax engagements to deliver quality tax services for our clients. This position offers excellent opportunities for leadership and career advancement to the right candidate. Our Vision for this position We envision our Client Accounting & Advisory Services (CAAS) manager to not only be a senior tax preparer who can complete a tax return to the level of minimal review & rework by the tax manager/partners, but also someone who can coordinate & manage write‑up work, payroll processing & returns (we process most of our returns through ADP), sales tax returns, tangible returns, and preparation of non‑attest financial statements (or other engagements in the absence of another Manager). This unique person would need to be super organized and begin documenting our workflows, standardizing our transmittal letters and processes, bringing consensus among the staff accountants and championing a unified "P&R way" of doing things. He/she would also be responsible for being the "go‑to" expert on the various apps available to streamline our CAAS offerings such as Xero, QBO, Bill.com, LedgerSync, Gusto, etc. This person will not only be training the new staff on our "App Stack" but also identifying clients who could benefit from a more streamlined process (Apps), meeting with and selling those clients on the benefit, on‑boarding those clients and then transitioning the ongoing maintenance of those clients to the accounting staff. Lead and supervise multiple client service teams on multiple engagements assuring timely billing, collections and support of operational processes. Work closely with the Tax manager and Assurance manager to coordinate scheduling of Client Accounting & Advisory (CAAS) Team. Identify and communicate accounting matters to senior managers and partners. Lead by example to positively impact employee morale. Inspire, train and mentor junior staff members to enable them to reach their maximum potential and provide constructive feedback as necessary. Regularly look for opportunities, recommendations, and additional firm services that could benefit clients. Represent the firm in community activities and professional associations. Preparation of complex federal and state income taxes for individuals, businesses, real estate, and exempt organizations; review tax returns as assigned, especially those prepared by your team or mid to basic level returns prepared by the tax team. Analyze notices and prepare internal memoranda, written correspondence/guidance and other documents for submission to the IRS, Treasury Department or state and local taxing authorities. Assist Tax Manager by performing complex tax research. Prepare tax planning estimates/projections. Recommend tax saving strategies to clients and staff on engagements. Manage the firm’s relationship with ADP (Retail & Wholesale). Manage Payroll, Personal Property Tax, Sales Tax, & Accounting (& AJE) engagements. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA Certification preferred. 4-6+ years prior experience in public accounting experience preferred. Significant supervisory experience (2 years plus). Experience preparing individual, business, real estate and exempt organization tax returns. Tax (federal and state) research skills. Strong accounting foundation and analytical skills. Strong computer skills: proficiency in Tax software, Excel, Word. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Detail oriented & ability to multi-task. Interpersonal Skills: Exhibits time management and organization skills. Coordinates recruitment, orientation and training of tax related staff. Develops entrepreneurial approach to client service and good working relationships with client personnel. Builds new and existing client relationships and demonstrates basic knowledge of clients’ businesses. CAAS Accountant This individual is responsible for preparation and participation in accounting (as well as Tax and Assurance, where applicable) engagements to deliver quality accounting services for our clients. Our Vision for this position We envision our Staff Level Accountants to function as a support team for all aspects of the firm: Tax, CAAS & Assurance. This will enable them to gain exposure to all areas of client services until an area of interest and expertise emerges. Staff Accountants Team Members are expected to become strong at accounting, preparing financial statements, cleaning up Trial Balances, etc., and also prepare write‑up work, payroll returns (we process most of our returns through ADP), sales tax returns, tangible returns, and preparation of non‑attest financial statements. They would also be expected to learn our various apps, our "tech stack", available to streamline our CAAS offerings such as Xero, QBO, Bill.com, LedgerSync, Gusto, etc., as well begin to show interest and develop experience in one or more of our industry segments: Healthcare, Transportation & Logistics, Restaurants & Hospitality, Not for Profits, Manufacturing & Distributions, and Construction. Duties & Responsibilities: Develop and maintain professional relationships with clients and consult with them regularly concerning financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, processes & procedures, and other general business issues. Prepare and/or review financial statements for clients across multiple industry sectors. Develop and streamline accounting procedures. Strong accounting foundation and analytical skills. Strong computer skills: proficiency in QuickBooks, Accounting software, Excel, Word. Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (preferred, but not required). CPA or EA Certification (preferred, but not required). 1+ years prior experience in public accounting experience (preferred). Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Detail‑oriented & able to multi‑task. Interpersonal Skills: Exhibits time management and organization skills. Develops entrepreneurial approach to client service and good working relationships with client personnel. Tax Accountant This individual and manages multiple tax engagements to deliver quality tax services for our clients. This position offers opportunities for leadership and career advancement to the right candidate. Our Vision for this position We envision our Tax Senior to not only be a senior tax preparer who can complete a complex tax return to the level of minimal review & rework by the partners, but also someone who can coordinate & manage multiple tax returns in various stages. This team member would begin to review other team members work and be available as a resource to mentor and train them as needed. This unique person would need to be super organized and begin providing suggestions to our workflows and internal processes, and championing a unified "P&R way" of doing things. They would grow to become the "go‑to" expert on the various TAX apps available to streamline our TAX offerings such as UltraTax CS, Workpaper CS, Practice CS, DocIT, Tax Help Software (IRS Transcripts), SurePrep, etc. The ultimate goal would be to grow from a preparer towards becoming a TAX resource not only for the internal staff but to our clients as well.
