Scope of Responsibility The Respiratory Therapist will also perform diagnostic procedures and ensure ventilators and life support equipment are operable. Responsible to Director of Cardiopulmonary Education Associates Degree or two year Certification in Respiratory Care Licensed by the Texas Medical Board Training and Experience Attains and Maintains American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Attains and Maintains NRP within 90 days of hire and ACLS,PALS within 6 months of hire 1 year Respiratory care experience preferred Health and Background Requirements Employment contingent upon successful completion of: Immunization Records Rarely (Less than ½ hour per day) Occasionally (½ to 2 ½ hour per day) Frequently (2 ½ to 5 ½ hours per day) Continually (5 ½ to 8 hours per day) Not Applicable Physical Sitting - Occasionally Stationary Standing - Rarely Walking - Continually Ability to be mobile - Continually Crouching (bend at knees) - Occasionally Stooping (bend at waist) - Rarely Twisting (knees, waist, neck) - Occasionally Turn/Pivot - Frequently Climbing - Rarely Balancing - Continually Reaching overhead - Occasionally Reaching extension - Occasionally Pushing/Pulling - Frequently Lifting/Carrying - (Maximum weight: 50 pounds ) - Occasionally Other Physical Demands: Ability to talk to patient and/or staff - Continually Other Physical Demands: Ability to hear patients and/or alarms - Continually Other Physical Demands: Vision (near and/or far) - Continually Other Physical Demands: Ability to distinguish colors - Continually Other Physical Demands: Ability to drive - N/A Risk of electrical shock - Frequently Risk of Radiation - Rarely Fumes or Airborne Particles - Rarely Chemicals - Occasionally Moving Mechanical Parts - Frequently Weather Conditions - N/A Bloodborne Exposure (Refer to Bloodborne Exposure Control Plan in Policy Tech for possible exposure tasks) Continually Respirator Fit Testing Required Annually Age of Patient Population Served: Neonates 1-30 days Infants 30 days-1 year Children 1-12 years Adolescents 13-18 years Adults 19-70 years Geriatrics 70+ years Qualifications Education Required Associates or better in Respiratory Care.
