Express Employment Professionals is partnering with a fast-growing local machine shop to add a Mechanical drafting and estimating pro to the team. If you love turning rough sketches into precise shop-ready drawings—and pricing them accurately—you’ll feel right at home here.
What your day looks likeYou’ll open your CAD suite and translate ideas into production-ready plans using Autodesk tools. You’ll build efficient layouts for both waterjet and laser cutting, transform hand sketches and engineer specs into clean models, and coordinate closely with fabrication so every detail is ready to run. You’ll develop bills of material, call out dimensions and materials, outline production procedures, and prepare quotes—from single parts to complex assemblies in both ferrous and non‑ferrous metals.
Your core responsibilities- Create precise designs with computer‑aided design and drafting (Autodesk) software.
- Develop jobs and nested part layouts for waterjet and laser cutting.
- Work from rough sketches and specifications provided by engineers and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate on product design using sound engineering and manufacturing practices.
- Detail shop drawings so fabricators can follow them with confidence.
- Generate accurate bills of material (BOM) per job requirements.
- Specify dimensions, materials, and manufacturing procedures for production.
- Quote individual parts and complex assemblies in ferrous and non‑ferrous materials.
- Hands-on background in metal fabrication, machining, or manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD; Inventor preferred.
- Strong grasp of materials, labor, and fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret complex drawings.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Must have experience with AutoCAD.
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Pay: $20.00/hour
