S ummary of Program and Position:

Ulupono Family Strengthening Program works to increase the internal resources of families to handle challenges they face with their children. Family support specialists on Oahu and Maui work with parents/caregivers of children ages birth to 17 years old to provide parenting education, promote child health, development and safety, offer emotional support, link families to resources in their community.

The Clinical Supervisor/Trainer serves as the clinical coach and will provide training, consultation, supervision, and on-going support regarding organizational and systems issues and model fidelity in accordance with the Family Check-Up Model. In collaboration with the Program Supervisor, will assist in the oversight of the model delivery and the delivery of voluntary culturally appropriate and strengths-based child abuse and neglect prevention and intervention services for low to moderate risk families referred by the Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Intake units. This position communicates frequently with community partners, home visitors, other supervisors, funders, and families enrolled in the program. This position is under the direct supervision of the Assistant Program Director.

Essential Duties:

1. Behaves in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.

2. Maintains expert knowledge of the Family Check-up model and its component parts. Engages in ongoing quality assurance and fidelity of the program staff’s work and professional development processes with each trained staff member.

3. Provides minimal monthly clinical supervision, group supervision as needed, and consultation to the Ulupono Family Strengthening Services teams on Maui and Oahu programs, as assigned. Provides training and shadowing support on an ongoing basis, documenting training and support activities via written development plans.

4. In collaboration with the FSS Clinical Supervisor / Trainer and Supervisory Teams on Maui and Oahu, assesses the needs and strengths of the program and will develop plans to address program objectives including model requirements to ensure fidelity and contractual requirements that impact the functioning of the FSS program. Will coordinate and facilitate quarterly trainings and all activities required to successfully complete training and evaluation with the model.

5. Provides direct services to clients as back up support to the FSS team as needed, such as those families for whom the Family Support Specialist or program staff needs additional support; and during the times when there are Family Support Specialist vacancies, or a staff member is on leave.

6. In collaboration with the Program Supervisor, assesses strengths and needs and develops plans to address program objectives including model fidelity and contractual requirements that may impact the functioning of the Ulupono program.

7. Provides back up support to the Program Supervisor, including orientation and training, consultation, and ongoing support and guidance related to child safety concerns.

8. Engages in initial start-up and ongoing Quality Assurance and Improvement activities with the FSS Teams on Maui and Oahu.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution required plus a minimum of one (1) year experience providing family support services to families, including working with families experiencing child abuse and neglect, required.

2. Possesses and maintains proof of no-fault insurance.
3. Can obtain an acceptable pre-hire driver’s abstract.
4. Can obtain an acceptable criminal background check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
5. Can obtain an acceptable CWS background check. upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.
6. Can obtain an acceptable National Sex Offender Registry Check upon hire, one year later, and annually thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven supervisory experience shall include, but not limited to, individual staff, volunteer, and program effectiveness, and outcome measures highly desired.
• Experience working with substance abuse and/or domestic violence issues preferred.
