As a Thermal Engineering Associate Manager, you will:Coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Directs application of research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.Typical Minimums :Generally has 5+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline.Manage a team of 5-8 thermal engineers by providing oversight, technical mentoring, career development, training, and performance reviewsWork collaboratively with the programs your team supports and with functional leadership to manage staffing requirements and plan job assignments to sustain engineering capabilities and critical skillsRepresent the organization in design reviews and external interactions, practicing Full SpectrumLeadership behaviorsOversee technical product management for program life cycles, facilitating strategic initiatives for affordability and efficiency across the programs your team supportsIndependently perform detailed thermal analysis of spacecraft components and systems to ensure program requirements and schedules are metManages the research, planning, design and development of mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Directs application of research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or related technical field) or equivalent experience/combined educationPrior experience as a formal technical lead or managerThorough knowledge of heat transfer and thermodynamics, particularly related to GEO and LEO space applications. TVAC test experience, including planning, setup, execution and post-test model correlation.Proficient (minimum 5 years experience) with finite difference and/or finite element numerical solution tools (e.g., Thermal Desktop,SINDA, NX Thermal)Ability to obtain Secret and Top Secret / SCI Security ClearanceDesired SkillsDemonstrated Full Spectrum Leadership competencies, including: communicating with positive impact, developing enduring relationships, making effective decisions, delivering value, building organizational talent, and being accountableProficient with engineering level computer programming tools (e.g., Fortran, Matlab)Experience with test engineering, instrumentation, data collection, and/or test reportsAbility and desire to assume ownership of tasks and quickly and efficiently drive to closureWillingness to mentor and develop junior engineersExcellent written and verbal technical communication skillsAbility to work alternate shifts when requiredProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practicePay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $118000.00 - $219100.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
