The Position

The primary role of the Business Partner is to lead, drive and manage business related processes and projects for the Core Medical Teams (CMT) and /or Business Area Head across Medical Affairs to ensure timely planning and execution of annual deliverables, including implementation of plans across the life-cycle (pre and post launch plans), project development/management and budget management. Responsible for managing internal and external strategic collaborations to optimize Medical Modernization and Strategic Partnership Engagements (MM&SPE) and the Medical Affairs Business Areas performance by building relationships, developing and maintaining strong communication channels. Leads successful implementation of business-critical projects.

In alignment with Core Medical Team leadership (CMT), and the Business Area Head, the Business Partner provides strategic partnerships to plan and executes defined strategic and life-cycle projects related to the therapy area | Business Area and ensures consistency with other therapy area | Business Area medical teams. Drive CMT | Business Area core processes. Plan and execute strategic, launch, and life-cycle dependent projects. Align processes with stakeholders across portfolio | Business Area Budget tactics are aligned to Medical Affairs strategy. Governance & Compliance: Establish and execute fit-for-purpose governance, ensuring all medical activities comply with legal and compliance guidance (i.e. Advisory Board, projects, etc.). Operational & Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic partnership to the Therapeutic Area and/or Business Area optimizing Medical Affairs activities and implementing new, efficient ways of working.

Relationships

This position reports to MA Strategic Initiatives management and is part of the Medical Modernization and Strategic Partnership Engagements (MM&SPE) team. Additional key internal NNI relationships include CMT & Business Area leaders across Medical Affairs. In addition, members and other CMR functions as well as Market Access, Marketing, Commercial Effectiveness, Compliance, Legal, Finance. Establish and manage relationships with external partners and consultants relevant to the needs of Medical Affairs & implementation of process improvement, innovation projects for Medical Affairs.

Essential Functions

• Planning & Execution:
  • Responsible for overall management of CMT | Business Area processes including coordination of CMT | Business Area activities and projects as well as annual strategy and tactics development
  • Utilize project planning principles to ensure Business Area projects/activities are flawlessly coordinated and executed
  • Supports the development of qualitative and quantitative performance measures to demonstrate CMT effectiveness
  • Responsible for implementation of best practices and standards for Medical Affairs. Partner closely with other departments, and teams to coordinate operational activities, facilitate communication, and foster a collaborative work culture, including direct partnership with the Business Area Heads
• Stakeholder & Change Management:
  • Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors to continually refine MA effectiveness
  • Maintains understanding of Medical Affairs to drive informed decision-making by management, facilitating timely action for optimal impact
  • Identifying and communicating areas for improvement in operational processes, analysing processes and implementing changes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality. Encouraging a culture of continuous improvement, promoting innovation, and seeking ways to optimize operations through new technologies or practices
  • Influences and effective interfaces within a matrixed environment and with varying professional levels
• Finance & Budget Management:
  • Lead and manage (alongside Business Area Head) budget planning (both local and LAP) to optimize budget allocation
  • Ensure budget tactics align to Medical Affairs strategy
  • Manage external vendors to maximize projects timelines and deliverables.

Physical Requirements

• 0-10% overnight travel required.
• The ideal candidate can be based remote anywhere in the United States. 

Qualifications

• A Bachelor 's degree required
• PMP certification Preferred
• A minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible project management experience required
• Good understanding of project, change and program management principles, methods and technique and process improvement
• Demonstrated excellent communication (written, verbal and presentations) and stakeholder management skills with cross-functional team interaction
• Expertise and strong working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of applications
• Excellent collaborator with ability to build and maintain relationships with people at all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders to design and execute analyses to support decision-making and planning
• Strategic and growth mindset, understanding of market needs and demonstrated understanding of legal and regulatory environment of pharmaceutical industry
• Experience in budget and contracts with clear understanding/impact of contract and financial schedules, (i.e. cost benefit analysis, ROI, KPI, financial milestones and related payment schedules)
• Demonstrated analytical skills and critical thinking to resolve issues in a variety of complex situations requiring new solutions and ability to apply related strategy to reality
• Demonstrated decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions and identifying priorities
• Self-confident with a growth-mindset and continually focused on improvement, innovation and results. Ability to engender trust and respect of peers and superiors
• Presentable, articulate, goal-oriented, with high integrity and strong ethics

The base compensation range for this position is $120,300 to $222,600. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance. Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
