Position Summary The General Manager (GM) of 49th State Brewing Co. – Downtown Anchorage is responsible for leading all aspects of restaurant operations, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, strong financial performance, operational excellence, and team development. This role oversees front-of-house, back-of-house, bar, and brewery coordination while upholding Northern Hospitality Group’s culture and values. The GM is a hands‑on, strategic leader who thrives in a high‑energy environment, leads from the floor, and inspires teams to deliver legendary hospitality every day. Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to) Operational Leadership Oversee daily restaurant operations to ensure smooth, efficient, and profitable performance. Uphold all company policies, procedures, service standards, and brand expectations. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, alcohol service, and labor regulations. Maintain consistent quality standards across food preparation, beverage execution, cleanliness, and guest interactions. Drive operational excellence during peak seasonal volume and high‑traffic events. Guest Experience Deliver exceptional, friendly, and authentic service to every guest. Lead by example on the floor, actively engaging with guests and team members. Proactively address and resolve guest concerns with professionalism and urgency. Foster an atmosphere that reflects Alaska’s energy, community spirit, and Northern Hospitality Group values. Recruit, hire, train, and mentor managers and hourly team members. Conduct regular staff meetings, performance evaluations, and leadership development sessions. Build a culture rooted in accountability, collaboration, and respect. Provide fair, consistent coaching and corrective action when necessary. Develop succession planning and promote internal growth opportunities. Drive sales growth while managing costs to meet profitability targets. Oversee labor management, scheduling, and staffing aligned with business levels. Manage inventory controls, purchasing, and cost of goods. Ensure accurate cash handling and daily financial reconciliation. Utilize operational systems such as R365, Toast, SpotOn Teamwork, and MS Teams to monitor KPIs including labor targets, turnover, guest satisfaction, and sales performance. Prepare and submit required financial and operational reports in a timely manner. Facility & Safety Oversight Ensure the restaurant, kitchen, bar, brewery spaces, and all equipment are properly maintained and safe. Oversee preventative maintenance schedules and routine inspections. Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety and cleanliness. Marketing & Community Engagement Collaborate with company leadership on marketing initiatives, promotions, and special events. Support local partnerships and community engagement efforts. Represent 49th State Brewing Co. and Northern Hospitality Group with professionalism and enthusiasm within the Anchorage community. Qualifications Must be 21 years of age or older. Minimum 3‑5 years of senior leadership experience in high‑volume restaurant operations; brewery experience preferred. Proven success in driving financial performance and building high‑performing teams. Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Proficient in POS and hospitality management systems (e.g., Toast, R365, SpotOn). Strong financial acumen and administrative capabilities. Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and work 50–60 hours per week during peak season. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
