(APP) Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant - PRN - Express Care

Brief Description Harbor Health (APP) Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (PRN) Austin, TX | Express Care | PRN / As-Needed Position Overview Harbor Health is seeking a dedicated PRN Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our clinical team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive, member-centered care on an as-needed basis while upholding our commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery. This position offers flexible scheduling — with availability for approximately 5 shifts per month — while maintaining high-quality clinical standards and collaborative care approaches. The Advanced Practice Provider delivers medical care within their scope of practice as delineated by the supervising physician, in alignment with our mission of transforming healthcare through our payvider model. The APP will provide acute and urgent care services to members across a broad range of presentations, ensuring timely, compassionate, and evidence-based treatment in an Express Care setting at our Round Rock, North University and Onion Creek locations. One Saturday per month is required at our Round Rock Express Care location. Position Duties & Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and treat members presenting with acute, urgent, and episodic medical conditions in an Express Care setting on a PRN basis Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform thorough physical examinations Order and interpret diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging as clinically appropriate Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in alignment with evidence-based clinical guidelines Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice Educate members and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care Collaborate with the broader Harbor Health care team to ensure appropriate referrals, care coordination, and continuity of care Accurately and efficiently document all clinical encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) system Adhere to all regulatory, compliance, and credentialing requirements Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, member safety, and clinical quality Maintain flexibility to support clinic operations on a PRN basis as scheduling needs arise Required Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Texas Board certification by the appropriate national certifying body (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA, or equivalent) Current DEA registration with prescriptive authority Current BLS Certification Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, family medicine, or a related ambulatory care setting preferred Strong clinical assessment diagnostic reasoning skills Experience working with diverse member populations across age groups Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to build trust with members quickly Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to Harbor Health's mission of transforming healthcare in Texas Ability to work independently while maintaining collaborative relationships Flexibility to work various shifts and adapt to changing clinical needs Preferred At least 2 years of experience in ambulatory care, urgent care, or emergency medicine settings as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Proficiency with electronic medical record systems Bilingual in English/Spanish Work Environment PRN scheduling with flexibility for 5 shifts per month - one Saturday per month is required 12-hour shift availability Multi-site coverage Collaborative team environment with physician supervision and support available What We Offer Competitive hourly compensation Flexible PRN scheduling that accommodates your availability Occurrence-based malpractice Collaborative team environment with physician supervision and support available At Harbor Health, we’re transforming healthcare in Texas through collaboration and innovation.
