Staff accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented, Staff Accountant to join a finance team of a reputable organization in West Haven, CT. You will handle day-to-day general ledger operations, assist with month-end and year-end close processes, and ensure strict compliance with GAAP guidelines. This is an ideal role for an ambitious accounting professional with 2-4 years of experience looking for stability, clear progression pathways, and ownership over core financial workflows. Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger entries, perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and maintain sub-ledgers.
• Drive month-end close procedures, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and financial statement draft reviews.
• Perform multi-bank account reconciliations, cash flow tracking, and variance analysis.
• Assist with Accounts Payable/Receivable oversight, sales tax filings, and fixed asset schedules.
• Provide necessary documentation and support to internal and external auditors during annual reviews.
• Partner with department leaders to monitor operational budget performance and variance reporting.
