Lead Systems Engineer

Job Description Summary Systems engineering is a cross‑functional engineering discipline that considers the business and technical needs of customers, aiming to deliver a high‑quality product that meets user requirements. The role focuses on designing, developing, and testing instrumentation and control (I&C) platforms and systems that manage safety‑critical functions for the BWRX‑300 Small Module Reactor. Responsibilities include problem solving, requirements management, and collaboration with engineering disciplines. Roles and Responsibilities Conduct component and product integration. Integrate multiple components and products for maximum performance and operability. Manage product and systems requirements, specifications, and flow‑down. Drive validation and verification activities for the overall product/system, including system‑level testing. Define product requirements for the module, component, subcontractors, and partner teams. Manage interfaces between components and execution organizations. Drive CTQ/Risk trade‑offs within teams designing the components. Maintain overall product configuration and configuration control system. Provide direct people management, including staffing and performance development. Utilize in‑depth technical discipline knowledge and analytical thinking to execute policy/strategy. Apply best practices, understand market differentiation, and propose innovative solutions. Address complex manufacturing processes and interdependent production cycles with judgment. Use multiple internal and external sources to arrive at decisions. Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues. Lead small projects with low risk and resource requirements. Facilitate consensus on technical topics within the field. Communicate performance expectations and handle sensitive issues. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college. 6 years of experience in systems engineering for a highly regulated industry. 2 years of experience performing independent or team‑based system design or technical reviews, including interfacing with requirements management and independent verification and validation. Desired Qualifications Experience in instrumentation and controls system and/or platform systems engineering. Experience in nuclear system engineering. Experience in boiling water reactor or small module reactor design. Master's degree in electrical, mechanical, systems, computer science, or equivalent from an accredited university. Ability to solve technical challenges through design patterns and problem‑solving. Experience with engineering project design methods from requirements definition to final testing. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Creative solutions and willingness to challenge status quo. Proactive learning of new tools and promotion of improvement. Systems‑level thinking. Eligibility Requirements For U.S. candidates: access to U.S. export‑controlled information is required. Final offers will be contingent on obtaining authorization. For Canadian candidates: legal authorization to work in Canada is required. Canadian candidates will report onsite to the Markham office three days per week. Benefits Pay range: $110,000–$160,000 CAD for Canadian posting; $98,400–$188,600 USD for U.S. posting. Discretionary annual bonus eligibility.
