About the Position

The nurse will predominantly manage patients with a known cancer diagnosis. Care will focus on post-operative recovery and achieving specific milestones for discharge. Floating may be required to meet facility needs. Nursing staff will care for patients undergoing surgical interventions. Knowledge of managing procedures related to abdomen or pelvic areas is essential. No chemotherapy or biotherapy administration will occur in this unit. Candidates should have experience in accessing and managing ports and intravenous therapy. Familiarity with Epic charting is necessary. Weekend shifts will be required based on unit needs. Candidates must have the ability to provide patient and family education and support. Candidates must be adept at administering medications and managing post-surgical care. Educational resources will be provided for any knowledge gaps related to special procedures. The unit offers interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy and respiratory services. All nursing staff must adhere to established protocols for patient safety and care. The nursing role requires effective communication and care coordination skills. Candidates should be prepared to perform tasks such as wound care and tracheostomy management. Strong assessment skills for changes in patient status are necessary to provide quality care. Knowledge of isolation precautions is required. Post-operative care will be provided to help patients recover efficiently. Candidates will join a team focused on patient-centered care in a collaborative environment.
