Shifts will be during the night on various days of the week. Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of acute care experience. First-time travelers are accepted, but they should have teaching hospital experience. Weekend shifts may be required based on the unit's needs. Floating to sister facilities may be required based on facility needs. The unit primarily cares for patients with known cancer diagnoses needing surgical interventions. Nursing staff will help patients achieve specific postoperative milestones for discharge. No chemotherapy or biotherapy is administered on this unit. Staff does not require chemotherapy certification to apply. The unit includes 36 staffed beds, with patient care provided primarily for adults. Standard medical equipment will be used, requiring no specialized training. Nurses will have access to educational resources to support knowledge gaps. The patient population includes those with diagnoses related to gynecologic oncology, colorectal, pancreatic, liver, and stomach concerns. Nurses are expected to be adaptable to the fluctuating nature of patient ratios based on staffing needs.
