Part-Time Library Assistant – Reference Dept.

The Cedar Falls Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant for its reference department on the second floor. Position will be 29 hours/week with evening and weekend work required. The current pay rate is $19.604/hr. and will increase to $19.808 in July 2026. The position is eligible for annual performance increases and part-time benefits including voluntary dental, vision, and other voluntary insurance benefits; pro-rated holidays, sick leave, and vacation; bereavement leave; tuition reimbursement; wellness; and retirement plans.

Duties will include assisting library patrons with accessing materials and information, providing technology assistance to patrons; planning and staffing programs for adults; performing services in the reference department; providing clerical and technical assistance to professional library staff; and performing other tasks as assigned.

High school diploma, or equivalent, and at least two years of customer service or administrative experience required, library setting preferred. Strong customer service skills, clerical skills, organizational skills, and detail orientation also required. Post-offer, pre-employment physical including drug screen will be required for selected individual.
