Job Title: Foundry Material Handler Level 1
Department: Foundry
Location: Wall Colmonoy Corporation – Los Lunas, NM
Reports To: Foundry Foreperson/ Leadperson
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Supervisory Responsibility: None

Position Summary
The Foundry Material Handler Level 1 is responsible for supporting foundry operations through the accurate handling, identification, movement, tracking, and inventory control of raw materials, remelt, and recovered product.
This position maintains the records and documentation necessary to support material traceability, inventory accuracy, and quality requirements within the Foundry. The Material Handler Level 1 is expected to perform assigned responsibilities independently, identify and troubleshoot routine issues associated with material handling and inventory, and assist with the training and development of less experienced material handlers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate records of raw material and remelt usage.
• Receive, identify, and properly handle product recovered from melting systems.
• Maintain inventory and remelt records when powders are received from powder processing areas and transferred to storage.
• Accurately identify and distinguish between finished product, remelt, and raw materials.
• Enter production, inventory, and material information into applicable computer systems.
• Complete and maintain Foundry records, forms, logs, and other documentation necessary for traceability, inventory control, and quality requirements.
• Maintain proper separation and identification of materials to prevent contamination or material mix-ups.
• Operate a forklift and hand pallet jack to safely move materials throughout the work area.
• Troubleshoot routine issues associated with material handling, inventory, and assigned job responsibilities.
• Communicate inventory discrepancies, equipment problems, material concerns, or other issues to the Foundry Foreperson/Leadperson.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Assist with training and mentoring less experienced material handlers as assigned.
• Follow all applicable work instructions, safety requirements, quality procedures, and inventory reporting processes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to read, understand, interpret, and follow written and verbal work instructions.
• Ability to read and comprehend numerical and written information.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary to calculate weights and percentages.
• Basic computer skills and ability to accurately enter information into applicable systems.
• Ability to identify and distinguish between different products, remelt, and raw materials.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining material traceability.
• Ability to recognize problems and communicate concerns appropriately.
• Ability to organize and prioritize assigned work with limited supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Ability to adapt to changing assignments and production priorities.
• Ability to maintain legible and accurate written records.
• Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required by production needs.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least one year of relevant manufacturing, material handling, warehouse, Foundry, or related experience preferred.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered at management's discretion.
• Previous forklift and material-handling experience preferred.

Equipment Used
This position may use equipment including, but not limited to:

• Forklifts
• Hand pallet jacks
• Scales
• Computers
• Calculators
• Hand tools
• Industrial vacuums
• Other equipment and tools required to perform assigned duties

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds from floor to chest level.
• Ability to maneuver 55-gallon drums weighing up to approximately 1,000 pounds with appropriate mechanical equipment and/or assistance .
• Ability to perform physical activities associated with material handling and manufacturing operations.
• Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment.
• Ability to maintain the stamina necessary to work overtime when required.

Work Environment
This position is primarily performed in an industrial manufacturing environment. Employees may be exposed to dust, fumes, metals, machinery, noise, and other conditions associated with Foundry operations.
Materials present in the work environment may include nickel, chromium, cobalt, copper, silicon, iron, and other materials associated with manufacturing operations.
Production requirements may result in changing priorities and periods of increased workload.

Safety Requirements
Employees are required to comply with all company and site-specific safety policies, procedures, work instructions, and PPE requirements.
Required PPE may include, depending on the task:

• Safety-toe footwear
• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection
• Gloves
• Dust/chemical half-mask respirators
• Additional protective equipment as required for specific tasks

Employees are responsible for immediately reporting unsafe conditions, damaged or malfunctioning equipment, material concerns, and other safety or production issues to appropriate supervision.

The Foundry Material Handler Level 1 is responsible for supporting:

• Product and material quality
• Inventory accuracy and traceability
• Productivity
• Cost control
• Housekeeping
• Safety
• Accurate documentation and reporting

The employee is expected to follow established quality procedures, safety requirements, production standards, and inventory-reporting processes at all times.

Additional Duties
