Tack Welder Position

Zachry/JVIC is currently seeking an experienced Tack Welder to join our fabrication team at the Pasadena Shop. Tack Welder will weld, fabricate, and assist pipe fitters in installation of varying types of industrial pipe into the projects piping systems. NO PER DIEM.

Responsibilities

Position Responsibilities

• Comply with safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and regulations.
• Identify all tools required for tasks and perform minor maintenance/cleaning of tools.
• Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
• Sets up equipment and welds parts, using GTAW.
• Read and Interpret WPS.
• Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts.
• Must be able to operate 4" angle grinder and small die grinder for grinding pipe and fittings.
• Perform test to ensure the quality of the pipe and the piping systems.
• Hoist loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables, and other rigging equipment.
• Report any unsafe conditions wherever they exist to the safety department, their supervisor, or management.
• Report all incidents/accidents/injuries involving the health and wellbeing of any employee to management immediately.
• Commitment to Zachry values and safety rules and regulations.

Physical Requirements

• Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
• Will talk and hear to communicate.
• Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of machinery parts and controls.
• Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull objects, materials, controls and tools.
• May be required to lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.
• Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
• Must be capable of working outside in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow and wind; and must be able to work for long period of times up to 12 hours a day.
• Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: safety glasses/ ear plugs/ gloves and steel-toe boots.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Must have 1+ years' experience with Welding.
• Must have the ability to weld in 2g, 4g, and 6g conditions.
• Must be able to TIG weld on Pipe.
• Must be familiar with the following processes GTAW.
• Must have current applicable welding certification with Zachry or be able to successfully pass a weld test.
• Must be able to stand for 10 hours, and squat and bend at the waist as needed throughout the day.
• Have the ability to lift at least 50lbs.
• Professional ability to work well with management.

• Former Zachry/JVIC Employee
• Education: High School Diploma or GED; preferred or Formal/technical education
• Computer Skills: Not applicable
• Certification/Licenses: None specifically required.
• Must have good communication skills.
