Description: Saint Vincent de Paul School is currently seeking to hire a part-time 2nd grade aide for the 2024-2025 School year starting in August. The Part-Time Teacher Aide is a qualified professional who meets the requirements to work in a Catholic school in the Archdiocese of Denver. The Teacher Aide is hired by and directly accountable to the principal to assist, support, and work closely with teachers, administrators, and other team members in providing educational support, personal assistance, and guidance for students. Daily tasks are communicated by the assigned teacher(s).

Description of Community : Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic School is located in Denver, Colorado and serves students from 3-year-old Preschool through Eighth Grade. St. Vincent de Paul School is led by the Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia of Nashville, TN and first opened its doors in 1927. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The duties of the classroom aide will include but are not limited to:

• Works with individual students or small groups of students to practice and reinforce learning of the materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by classroom teacher
• Assists as directed by the classroom teacher in devising and/or implementing special strategies for reinforcing student learning of materials and skills
• Monitors work, correct papers, and supervises curriculum-based lessons, activities, testing and makeup work as assigned by classroom teacher
• Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular classroom teacher
• Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the classroom teacher
• Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, recess periods, and on field trips (as applicable)
• Other duties as assigned by the school principal.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Requires a minimum of a high school diploma and experience working with children
• Compliance with Safe Environment requirements.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 2041-2043);
• Refrain from promotion or approval of, or the living out of, any conduct or lifestyle that would reflect discredit or disgrace on, or cause scandal in relationship to, the Archdiocese of Denver, or considered to be in contradiction with Catholic doctrine or morals;
• Effective supervisory skills;
• Aptitude for the work to be performed
• High interest in children, their growth, development, and education
• Desire to assist students with diverse needs in a learning environment
• Emotional maturity and stability necessary for the specialized work involved
• Effective listening and verbal communication skills;
• Must work cooperatively with school staff and administration;
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills;
• Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Classroom aide to work assigned hours on each of the 172 instructional days during the school year. Need for this position may cease if student enrollment changes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
