Project Accountant

Project AccountantThe Project Accountant is responsible for fulfilling the project accounting requirements for projects, including day-to-day interface with project teams, subcontractors and other personnel. The Project Accountant is responsible for maintaining all accounting records and collecting all financial paperwork associated with the project.PreconstructionAttend project award meetingRequest job numbers/division setupsBonds/Business licenses (new/renewals)Input buyout matrix upon project awardUnderstand client contract terms (billings, reporting, closeouts, etc.)Attend project start-up meeting / field kick offConstruction / CloseoutsCoordinate with construction team on client billingsPrepare & submit client billingsAssist with subcontractor waiver collectionCoordinate with project team for timely closeoutSchedule/attend project closeout meetingRelease Notice of CompletionsFollow up with client for all accounts receivable - escalate any potential issues in a timely mannerAttend production callsResponsible for Sage entries including budgets, subcontractor contracts and change ordersSubcontractor/Vendor PaymentsUpdate subcontractors on payment status as requiredVerify subcontractor compliance prior to authorizing release of paymentTrack subcontractor preliminary notices / ensure dual party checks and/or waivers are secured from all 2nd tier vendors.Make weekly suggestions for selected subcontractor paymentsManage preliminary notices / dual party check agreementsRequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent in work experience is preferred.Must have the ability to perform in a fast-paced environmentPossess strong verbal and written communication skills, and interact effectively at all levels within the organizationMinimum of two (2) years of project accounting experience preferredStrong Analytical Skills are requiredConstruction industry experience requiredSage experience preferredAdvanced knowledge in Microsoft Program desired (Outlook, Word, Excel)Event 1 / Office Connector experience a plus
