About the Position

Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med Surg (Medical Surgical) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Indiana RN license or compact license required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: At least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience. Description: Unit Notes: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of Med Surg experience at a large hospital with over 450 beds. General Medical and surgical units manage a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses. Chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF and end stage renal disease are commonly seen. GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases are also part of care. Management of infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, and UTI is included. Patients with neurological issues such as stroke, dementia, and traumatic brain injuries are cared for. There are also patients with mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. Common procedures include colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General job duties include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of electronic health records is essential. Skills required include IV therapy management, and management of heparin and insulin drips. Equipment utilized includes Epic electronic records, pyxis machines, and telemetry monitoring. Candidates will float to areas in greatest need. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6. Dress code consists of Caribbean Blue scrubs. 12-hour shifts include working 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks. BLS and an Indiana RN license or compact license are required. Floating to other medical units may occur. Orientation consists of general hospital orientation followed by nursing orientation, including Epic classes.
