Registered Nurse Operating Room

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room is responsible for delivering expert perioperative nursing care in a high-acuity acute hospital setting. The nurse must hold an active Alaska RN license and have at least two years of relevant experience. Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care in the Operating Room environment.
- Prepare patients for surgery and assist during surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to plan and implement patient care.
- Administer medications and monitor patient status throughout perioperative phases.
- Maintain sterile fields and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
- Document patient care and surgical interventions using Epic charting system.
- Float to like units within scope of practice as needed to meet facility demands.
- Respond to limited on-call situations to cover call-offs.
- Active Registered Nurse license in Alaska (license in hand required for auto offer).
- Minimum of two years of nursing experience.
- BLS certification.
- Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute hospital setting.
- Driver's license and reliable transportation for travel assignment.
- ACLS certification.
- CNOR certification.
- Experience in acute hospital, Magnet facility, or Level II trauma center preferred.
- Shift start times vary between 06:45-19:15 or 09:00-21:30.
- Call is limited to coverage for call-offs only.
- Weekend work is required.
- Time off requests are approved individually upon offer and must be included in submittal.
- Must be willing to float to similar units within scope.
- Local candidates are not accepted; candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from facility.
- Assignment length is 13 weeks.
- Work schedule options include 3 twelve-hour day shifts or 4 ten-hour day shifts per week.
- Guaranteed 60 hours per two-week pay period, with possible call-off of one 12-hour shift per two weeks.
- Block scheduling accommodations are not available.
