Registered Nurse Operating Room

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Operating Room provides specialized nursing care in a Magnet-designated acute hospital with Level II trauma services. This role involves delivering skilled perioperative nursing care, collaborating with surgical teams, and ensuring patient safety throughout surgical procedures. The nurse must hold an active AK RN license and demonstrate at least two years of relevant experience. Strong clinical skills, effective communication, and flexibility to float within similar units as needed are essential. Responsibilities:

• Provide perioperative nursing care in the operating room setting.
• Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
• Administer medications and monitor patient status during surgery.
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic electronic health records.
• Float to like units within scope to meet facility needs when required.
• Participate in call coverage limited to call-offs only.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in Alaska (must be in hand for auto offer).
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
• BLS certification.
• Ability to work effectively in an acute hospital operating room environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• ACLS certification.
• CNOR certification.

Special Considerations:

• Call coverage is limited and only for call-offs.
• Weekend work is required.
• May float to similar units as needed within scope of practice.
• Time off requests are approved individually upon offer; all requests must be included in submission.
• Travel nurses must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify.

Scheduling:

• Shift options include 3 twelve-hour days or 4 ten-hour days.
• Shift start times vary between 06:45-19:15 or 09:00-21:30.
• Guaranteed 60 hours per two-week pay period, with possible call-off of one 12-hour shift per period.
