• The UPS Store – Assistant Manager

• Reports To: Owner/Manager

Overview

As the Assistant Manager, you are the leader of a fast-paced retail, shipping, printing, and business services center. You are responsible for driving sales, delivering exceptional customer service, developing team members, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a customer-focused environment, enjoys coaching employees, and takes ownership of store performance. You will oversee all aspects of the business, including customer experience, shipping and print operations, inventory management, and financial performance.

The best Store Managers are energetic, organized, and solutions-oriented. They lead by example, maintain high standards, and create a positive environment for both customers and employees.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach, and motivate store associates.
• Foster a positive, customer-focused culture.
• Evaluate Associate performance and provide ongoing feedback.
• Lead by example in delivering outstanding customer service.
• Ensure every customer receives professional, friendly, and efficient service.
• Resolve customer concerns and complaints promptly and professionally.
• Build relationships with small business customers and mailbox holders.
• Promote store services and identify opportunities to increase customer satisfaction.
• Identify opportunities to increase transactions, average ticket size, and repeat business.
• Oversee shipping, printing, packaging, mailbox, and return service operations.
• Ensure compliance with UPS Store standards, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and order supplies as needed.
• Monitor equipment maintenance and coordinate service calls when required.
• Ensure the store remains clean, organized, and professional at all times.
• Manage cash handling and daily reconciliations.
• Monitor labor costs and operating expenses.
• Ensure accurate recordkeeping and operational controls.

• Ability to lift packages up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a retail environment with frequent customer interaction.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 3+ years of retail, shipping, print services, or customer service management.
• Prior supervisory or management experience required.
• Previous experience with The UPS Store is preferred.

Schedule Requirements

• Position is available Full-Time or Part-Time.
• Must be available for closing shifts throughout the week.
• Weekend shifts are required.
• Additional hours during peak holiday season may be required.
