The Role Designs components or portions of systems and modifies existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Utilizes computer‑aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as CAD, CAM or CATIA. Gathers information, makes studies, computes calculations, and prepares original rough layouts, sketches to present design proposal. Coordinates design criteria with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, material, and planning groups to ensure ease of manufacture, availability of materials, and contractual specifications. Must Have High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of experience Associates Degree or other 2‑year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years experience Nice to Have Familiarity with all components of U.S. Navy Pipe, Mechanical, Machinery and HVAC systems is preferred. An understanding of ship design, blueprint reading and Quality Assurance. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and a complete understanding of ship design practices and blueprint reading. Ability to participate directly in Quality Assurance and development of Marine drawings for U.S. Naval ship modifications and overhauls. Responsible for ensuring all technical requirements are fully complied into deliverable products while following applicable procedures and standards.
