Assistant Controller

Ready to take the next step in your accounting career and not be \"just a number?\" We're working with a PE-backed company in the Greater Cleveland area. This is a hands-on role where you own the accounting function end to end rather than managing one narrow slice of it. You'll sit close to leadership, keep the financial engine running cleanly, and have a real say in how things get done as the business scales. What You'll Do Own the month-end close from start to finish, including account reconciliations and financial reporting Manage accounts payable, from weekly check runs to vendor inquiries Manage accounts receivable, including cash application review and collections Run banking and cash: forecasting, bank reconciliations, and loan covenant reporting Manage fixed assets: monthly depreciation, project spending analysis, and reconciliations Handle taxes: property tax, sales and use tax, and 1099 processing Follow established accounting processes and recommend improvements where you spot them Serve as the key liaison with external auditors Support the broader team on other accounting priorities as they come up What We're Looking For Sharp analytical skills and the ability to read what the numbers are actually saying Excellent organization and genuine attention to detail A clear, confident communicator who works well across the business A proactive problem solver who catches issues early and resolves them before they grow Dynamic personality!
