Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar role License: Current nursing license Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 1 year of EPIC experience - Experience in managing cardiac telemetry patients Description: The nurse will work a night shift, three times per week. Floating to other like units may be required based on patient needs. Weekend coverage will be required every other weekend, but may change based on the needs of the unit. The patient diagnoses include higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, atrial fibrillation, and post-heart catheterization. The unit serves as a step-down unit from ICU, where patients on vents or with pressor support are not admitted. Drips we can manage include heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and initiation of sotalol. Critical skills include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Our patient-to-nurse ratio is typically 6:1. The unit is staffed with interdisciplinary support including IV Teams, Respiratory Services, and Pharmacy. The daily census includes an average of 28 patients. Nurses are expected to float only to units they are qualified for. All necessary competencies must be documented prior to floating. Modules and pre-assignment testing will be required prior to starting. Travelers are encouraged to complete modules within 48 hours of receiving the login information. Modules are billable, up to 16 hours.
