Registered Nurse / Inpatient Rehabilitation / PRN Nights Join to apply for the Registered Nurse / Inpatient Rehabilitation / PRN Nights role at Catawba Valley Health System Summary of Performance Expectations Registered Nurse Applicant (RNA) will serve as a member of the healthcare team by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and patient representatives, observing and collaborating with the Registered Nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes patient centered health. The RNA is supervised for the management and provision of care in accordance with current policies and procedures. The RNA will document and provide assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Holds a graduate temporary permit from the NCBON. This temporary approval is time limited until the graduate can take the NCLEX and meets criteria for full licensure by the NCBON. BCLS certification. If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date. BSN Degree Requirements Effective May 4, 2015 all newly employed Registered Nurses and all current employees promoted to Registered Nurse positions are required to obtain a BSN or higher nursing degree. Exceptions RNs employed in positions at Catawba Valley Medical Group (CVMG), Fairgrove Primary Health (FPH), Catawba Valley Infectious Disease (CVID), Catawba Valley Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbarics (WHC), and Catawba Valley Psychiatric Services (CVPS) are exempt from this requirement. The BSN or higher nursing degree must be completed within five years from the date of employment or placement into the RN position. Incumbents in CVMC RN positions on the effective date will not be required to satisfy the BSN degree requirement to maintain their current position, be promoted to a charge nurse or Operating Room specialty RN position or apply for lateral RN positions in another CVMC department. RNs transferring to the IRT department are subject to the BSN requirement. Effective 03/28/2019: RNs transferring from CVMG, FPH, CVID, WHC, or CVPS into RN positions at CVMC are subject to the BSN requirement. Certification Requirements by Unit Birthing Center: ACLS within one year of employment date. NRP within one year of employment date. Clinical Observation Unit: ACLS within one year of employment date. Critical Care Unit: ACLS within one year of employment date. Day Surgery: ACLS and PALS within one year of employment date. Emergency Dept.: ACLS and PALS within one year of employment date. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification within six months of employment date. Heart and Vascular Services: ACLS and PALS within one year of employment date. Infusion Center: Full-time RNs: Chemotherapy certified via ONS/ONCC Chemo/Bio Course within eight months of employment date. Inpatient Rehabilitation: FIM competency within six months of employment date. Intermediate Care Unit: ACLS within one year of employment date. Level III Nursery: NRP within one year of employment date. STABLE within one year of employment date. Renewal not required. Newborn Nursery: NRP within one year of employment date. STABLE within one year of employment date. Renewal not required. Oncology: Chemotherapy certified via ONS/ONCC Chemo/Bio Course within one year of employment date. Radiation Oncology: ONS Radiation Oncology Certificate Program within one year of employment date. PACU: ACLS and PALS within one year of employment date. Pediatrics: PALS within one year of employment date. Psychiatry: Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification within three months of employment date and renewed at least bi-annually for the first year and annually thereafter. Stroke Unit: ACLS within one year of employment date. Preferred Qualifications No previous experience required. Given training and on-the-job experience incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
