CNC Lead (2nd Shift)

Coordinate with supervisor and programmer to insure jobs are set up and running. Read blueprints or job orders for product and job specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be run, tooling instructions, or other written specifications. Set up machine, observe operation, and inspect first run and sample workpieces to ensure machining conforms to specifications. Help other machinists perform and troubleshoot setups and ensure they are running efficiently. Process first‑article inspections and verify conformance to quality standards prior to production runs. Accurately complete work‑order paperwork and documentation. Ensure that work areas are maintained neat and orderly at all times. Assist in training new hires in setup procedures, measurement equipment, production expectations and specifications. Operate equipment and machines as needed. Assist production supervisors in daily activities. Lead shift with minimal to no supervision required. Recognize and identify problem areas and assist with developing solutions. Issue and release work orders. Lead and direct all aspects of the CNC department when supervisor is unavailable. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including health, safety and quality assurance policies. Report injuries, accidents, near‑misses or unsafe conditions to a supervisor or manager immediately. Perform other and/or related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates. Experience 2–5 years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment; 2–5 years of supervisory experience preferred. 5 years of experience in basic programming, editing, setup and operation of CNC machines for precision parts with experience on Doosan, Okuma or Swiss machines with Fanuc controls preferred. Ability to set up and edit the G‑code for each part, edit the program, check parts, deburr parts, perform offsets, etc.; Mastercam and/or SolidWorks experience is a plus. Skills and Qualifications High school diploma or GED; an associate’s degree in a technical discipline or bachelor’s degree preferred. Ability to pass a basic reading, math, measurement, parts‑matching and counting test. Ability to read, understand, interpret and follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing specifications. Ability to adjust to changes without compromising quality or performance. Must be able to work a shift schedule and overtime as needed, including weekends. Physical Demands Must be able to stand for the duration of scheduled shift. Ability to manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids or platforms weighing 25–150 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Manual dexterity using hands, fingers and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, lift and hammer. Work Environment Manufacturing and warehouse environment with multi‑step process production runs on different machines.
