Job Summary Controls Operations Manager GA/AL – Atlanta, GA. This role leads the automation department across Georgia and Alabama, driving customer satisfaction, departmental growth, and profitability through efficient processes, safety, and team synergy. Overview The Controls Operations Manager will coordinate all automation department activities within the Georgia and Alabama divisions, ensuring a zero‑injury safety culture, strategic implementation of best practices, and a customer‑centric approach. Responsibilities Direct and coordinate day‑to‑day operations of the automation department across Georgia and Alabama. Drive a zero‑injury safety culture in partnership with the Safety Manager. Develop, implement, and monitor standardized processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Champion a customer‑centric approach, ensuring high satisfaction through proactive communication and problem‑solving. Develop and execute strategies to drive departmental growth, increase revenue, and improve profitability in service and project sectors. Establish and report KPIs, track performance metrics, and implement corrective actions. Foster a collaborative team environment, promoting open communication, knowledge sharing, mentorship, and mutual support. Conduct annual performance evaluations to facilitate development and maintain skill, training, and salary records. Manage departmental resources, including personnel, scheduling, budgeting, tools, and equipment. Ensure adherence to all company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards. Prepare regular performance reports and present findings to the General Manager. Collaborate with sales, engineering, mechanical, project managers, and finance to align business objectives. Stay informed on industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging automation technologies. Work with sales to propose projects, maintenance, and service opportunities through scope and estimate reviews, site inspections, and customer meetings. Key Performance Indicators Safety: 0 recordable injuries. Efficient Process Implementation and Adherence: > 6‑month project backlog burn rate. Overall Departmental Profitability (Growth in Revenue/Profitability): Projects Revenue: Annual budget (30% margin). Service Revenue: Annual budget (30% margin). Qualifications Knowledgeable in multiple control manufacturer systems; certifications or training in Schneider, Tridium Niagara, & Distech preferred. Ability to perform technician duties to assist with complex field jobs. 7–10 years progressive automation industry experience with demonstrated leadership responsibilities. Proven track record of driving customer satisfaction, business growth, and profitability. Strong understanding of controls service and project‑based business models. Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. Proficient use of company business systems to track and monitor key metrics. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective processes and improve operational efficiency. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
