Associate Director, HEMA, Surgical Robotics

Associate Director, Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) Location: Cincinnati, Ohio; Santa Clara, California, United States. About the Role Johnson & Johnson (J&J) is recruiting an Associate Director to lead health economics and market access strategies for its MedTech Robotic and Digital business, focusing on surgical robotics and the OTTAVA Platform. The Associate Director reports to the Director of HEMA (Robotics and Digital Solutions) and partners cross‑functionally to create evidence-based value propositions and support market entry. Key Responsibilities Develop the economic evidence strategy for surgical robotics by identifying evidence gaps and prioritizing studies. Co‑design pragmatic study protocols with hospital partners and the Clinical team. Oversee study execution, including site selection, data collection, analysis, and reporting. Translate evidence into customer‑facing materials (value story briefs, cost‑of‑care analyses, hospital case studies). Partner with U.S. Sales and global teams to deliver consistent value messages supported by education, tools, and evidence. Assess market access needs and trends, crafting strategies that support adoption and commercial success. Represent the voice of external non‑clinical stakeholders (e.g., hospital administrators) to ensure market access requirements are reflected in the product pipeline and value proposition. Qualifications Advanced degree (MS, MPH, PhD, MHA, MBA) in a healthcare‑related field. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in hospital operations, healthcare consulting, or MedTech. Strategic thinking to translate clinical and operational questions into rigorous, pragmatic evidence programs. Strong communication and storytelling skills to convey complex evidence in concise value narratives. Influencing and collaboration capabilities with clinical, commercial, and hospital audiences. Deep understanding of healthcare marketplace dynamics and market access requirements. Preferred experience managing robotic service lines within a hospital setting. In‑depth knowledge of operating room operations, robotic surgery workflow, and performance metrics. Analytical rigor with a focus on transparent study design, reproducibility, and cost‑analysis. Stakeholder management skills including contracting and partnership with hospitals and clinicians. Project management experience leading health outcomes research from concept through publication. Benefits Competitive base salary range: $137,000 – $235,750 (California: $157,000 – $271,400). Eligibility for annual performance bonus.
