Child Guidance is a statewide program that promotes and supports healthy family relationships and child development. Our caring behavioral health staff of Master’s and Doctoral degree-level professionals provide relationship and evidence-based outpatient treatment centered in best practice, clinical judgment, and medical necessity.The Behavioral Health Clinician in the Child Guidance program is primarily responsible for providing counseling and intervention services to children and their families, facilitating the early identification of children with psychological, social, emotional, or behavioral issues; providing psychoeducation, prevention; training and education as well as consultation with parents and professionals on techniques to promote optimal social-emotional development. In addition, the clinician collaborates with community organizations to ensure systems are in place to enhance families’ parenting needs and capacity to support optimal social emotional development of children and serves as a member of a multidisciplinary team to monitor the effectiveness of behavioral health services. The clinician will demonstrate capacity for providing evidence based/informed, developmentally sensitive, trauma informed supports and services for families, children and partners/professionals while exemplifying the values expected within the program and for promoting the mission of the organization.This position is responsible for providing clients with diagnostic and therapeutic services in the areas of behavior and social emotional development. Services are provided for clients in a clinic-based setting. Services may include behavioral screenings, evaluations, treatment, and parent education.Position Responsibilities /Essential FunctionsThe functions within this job family will vary by level; responsibility but may include, but are not limited to, the following:Conducts intakes, including initial client interviews and mental health assessment to make recommendations for appropriate services.Conducts assessments and evaluations to arrive at appropriate diagnoses and develops treatment plans to effectively address the child/family’s mental health needs.Provides clinic-based individual, family and group therapy including infant and early childhood mental health services to support child and family well-being.Participates in and develops psycho-educational programs which include parenting workshops and children’s groupsParticipates in multidisciplinary team staffing to provide recommendations for individual diagnosis and treatment.Provides consultation regarding mental and behavioral health strategies to professionals that work with children birth up to age 18.Provides outreach, training, and early childhood mental health consultation within the community to support child and family well-being and positive health outcomes.Maintains confidential records of services including progress notes and evaluation reports in compliance with state and federal regulations.Consults with community agencies and school systems on behalf of clients and may provide special programs as requested.May consult/intervene in crisis and potentially life-threatening situations.Other DutiesDemonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.Works effectively in team environment, participating and assisting their peers.Minimum Qualifications:The Behavioral Health Clinician job family consists of five levels which are distinguished by the level of complexity of specific job assignments, the extent of responsibility assigned for specific tasks, the level of expertise required for completion of the assigned work and the responsibility assigned for providing leadership to others.Level III:This is the specialist level where employees are assigned responsibilities for performing advanced assessment and treatment services such as a highly specialized clinical service. This Preferred Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Preferred master’s in behavioral studies level has overall responsibility for assigned mental and behavioral health services and functions.Requirements at this level consist of a Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, human relations, clinical/direct practice social work, or a closely related field which must have included one semester of at least three hundred hours of applied clinical practicum in psychology or counseling. The incumbent is required to have three years of qualifying experience and must have a passing score on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification or hold a current license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Behavior Practitioner (LBP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), Licensed Health Service Psychologist (HSP); Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), or a doctorate in psychology or education with a specialty in clinical, counseling, or school psychology, including one academic year of full time pre-doctoral internship from an accredited program listed by the American Psychological Association at the time of completion.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSOklahoma Association for Infant Mental Health Endorsement for Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-Based Practice Promoting Infant Mental Health, Infant Mental Health Specialist (IMH-E) OR Infant Mental Health endorsement preferred. If not Endorsed at hire, will pursue Endorsement as an Infant Mental Health Specialist within two yearsTrained in the use of trauma Informed treatment modalities (TF-CBT, CPP, etc.)Experience in infant and early childhood assessment and intervention Experience working with families of children, ages birth up to age 18, with an emphasis on relationship-based work with children ages 0-6.Application Requirements:If education, certification or licensure is required to meet qualifications, applicants must provide documentation at the time of application.All applicants are subject to a background check and must be legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.Valued Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of psychotherapeutic/behavioral intervention techniques; of various assessment and evaluation tools; of the principles, methods and techniques of administering, scoring, and interpreting a variety of psychological tests including complicated or specialized tests; of mental disorders, their symptoms, treatment, and social implications in relation to client and family; of the application of psychological theories with respect to group and individual behavior; of the principles and methods of statistical research as applied to the field of psychology; and of methods and techniques used in training and of psycho educational parent training techniques; and of chemical dependency treatment and counseling techniques. Ability is required to apply psychological techniques, to evaluate and diagnose psychological problems; to develop therapeutic treatment/plans; to provide therapeutic counseling; to administer psychological tests; and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Physical Demands and Work EnvironmentWork is typically performed in an office environment with climate-controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level. The provision of services remotely via telehealth may also occur. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms and may lift up to 35 pounds.
