Patient Access Representative

*Position Overview* We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate *Patient Access Representative / Medical Scheduler* to support a busy cardiology practice. This role serves as a primary point of contact for patients, managing a high volume of inbound calls across multiple locations while ensuring exceptional customer service and efficient patient scheduling.
*Schedule*: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM | Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
*Key Responsibilities*
* Manage a high volume of inbound patient calls and provide professional, patient-focused support.
* Schedule, reschedule, and coordinate appointments for cardiology providers and ancillary services.
* Register patients and accurately update demographic and insurance information within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
* Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary patient information prior to appointments.
* Schedule diagnostic cardiology procedures, screenings, laboratory services, and follow-up visits.
* Triage patient concerns and route clinical inquiries to nursing staff and providers as appropriate.
* Assist patients with appointment questions, directions, preparation instructions, and general practice information.
* Maintain accurate documentation while ensuring HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality.
*Required Qualifications*
* Previous experience in patient registration, patient access, medical reception, medical scheduling, or a related healthcare support role.
* Strong customer service and communication skills.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare office workflows.
* Experience with patient intake, check-in/check-out processes, and insurance verification.
* Ability to multitask and manage a high-volume call environment.
* Experience with Epic or other electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred.
*Job Type & Location*This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wallingford, CT.
*Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
