Position Details Job Class/Grade: Specialist 1 / Grade 8 Wage: Starting at $48,600 per year based on experience FLSA; EEO; WC: Non-Exempt; Professional; 8864 Locations: Greater Middle East Center (GMEC), 4915 SW Griffith Dr #216, Beaverton, OR 97005 (Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days WFH) FTE; Status: 1.0 FTE; Full-Time with Benefits Program: Refugee & Immigrant Family Strengthening (RIFS) Sector/Division: Survivor Services / Community Safety & Wellbeing Program Summary The Refugee & Immigrant Family Strengthening (RIFS) program was launched by IRCO in 1998 to serve immigrant and refugee survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. RIFS provides safety planning, crisis intervention, emergency housing solutions, intensive bilingual case management, legal advocacy, and prevention education. Position Summary The Advocate assists individuals and families experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking using a survivor-centered, strengths-based, empowerment model. This role includes participating in the Unified Response network, providing confidential advocacy at hospital and mental health sites for SANE and strangulation exams. Essential Functions Adhere to program, agency, and federal legal policies on client confidentiality (VAWA standards). Implement a survivor-centered, trauma-informed empowerment model. Collaborate with internal and external service providers. Conduct intakes, eligibility screenings, and risk assessments. Develop and implement case management plans, including safety planning and crisis intervention. Advocate for clients within the legal system, including obtaining protective orders. Assist with immigration-related documentation and referrals. Provide interpretation and translation services. Maintain accurate, confidential participant files and data entry. Travel to hospital and mental health sites to support survivors. Education & Experience Education: High school diploma required; some college preferred. Experience: Advocacy and/or nonprofit experience required. Certification: Must obtain 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate Certification within 10 working days of hire. Language: Fluency in English required; bilingual required (Spanish and Arabic are priority languages). Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational communication. Fluency in additional languages (Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Filipino/Tagalog, and Hindi are priority).
