Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Worker's Compensation Specialist for a contract/temporary opportunity in Sunnyvale, CA within the government and public sector. This role is ideal for a human resources professional with strong workers' compensation claims experience, leave administration knowledge, and the ability to coordinate effectively with employees, managers, attorneys, third-party administrators, and internal stakeholders. The Worker's Compensation Specialist will support the administration, coordination, and improvement of workers' compensation programs while helping ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. Key Responsibilities - Assist with the development, coordination, and administration of the workers' compensation program, including claims review, case coordination, and program support.- Interpret and apply laws, policies, procedures, and best practices to support effective workers' compensation claims processing and compliance.
- Serve as a liaison between injured workers, departments, third-party administrators, attorneys, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in claims investigations, coordinate case management activities, and support the interactive process with injured employees.
- Administer FMLA, CFRA, short-term disability, and long-term disability programs while ensuring legal and procedural compliance.
- Prepare reports, analyze HR data, support safety-related initiatives, and assist with administrative projects related to personnel programs. Compensation and Benefits - Pay range: $52 to $67 per hour.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Administer and coordinate workers' compensation claims, case management activities, and related HR compliance processes.- Manage employee leave programs including FMLA, CFRA, short-term disability, and long-term disability.
- Support claims investigations, interactive process meetings, reasonable accommodation coordination, and stakeholder communications.
- Prepare reports, analyze personnel data, maintain records, and support HR program administration. - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in personnel administration, business, public administration, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of technical or professional-level human resources experience.
- Experience with workers' compensation claims management, HR administration, leave administration, employee benefits, safety programs, or related HR functions.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations related to human resources, workers' compensation, leaves, and disability programs.
- Strong understanding of record keeping, report preparation, business writing, grammar, and documentation standards.
- Proficiency with office software, word processing tools, HR systems, and computer applications used to support HR functions.
- Ability to coordinate with employees, managers, attorneys, administrators, and third-party vendors in a professional and confidential manner.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications - Experience in a government, public sector, municipal, or similarly regulated HR environment.
- Knowledge of safety program administration, safety committee support, and preventative workplace safety practices.
- Familiarity with program development, system administration, research methods, statistical analysis, and survey response preparation.
- Experience supporting certificate of insurance tracking, HR reporting, employee relations, recruitment, compensation, classification, or employee development activities.
