Chemical Operator - Hopewell

Position Summary The Chemical Operators work on a rotating shift team, focusing on field and control room chemical unit operations for safely running process systems and associated equipment during their shift. Typical duties include operating field equipment, drawing process samples, preparing equipment for maintenance, monitoring and operating equipment and facilities (combustion units, scrubbers, absorption towers, heat exchangers, tanks) via the Distributed Control System (DCS). Responsibilities Adhere to standard work and standard operating procedures to ensure unit safety, quality and production goals are met. Take and interpret readings on various equipment, assessing variations and troubleshooting to bring processes back to standard. Troubleshoot process issues and take corrective action to maintain a safe and sustainable operating area. Handle and work with highly hazardous chemicals, wearing full body PPE. Effectively communicate and elevate process upsets and equipment issues within the organization. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, and/or chemical plant environment. Additional Qualifications 1 year of chemical operations background/experience is strongly preferred. Ability to work on a 12‑hour rotating shift schedule. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to perform the physical labor associated with the job. Strong work ethic and initiative to learn new processes. Ability to work at elevated heights greater than 50 feet. Ability to work in confined spaces. Demonstrated ability to deliver a safe workspace based on standard work. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and take corrective action within an industrial setting. Advanced troubleshooting skills. Ability to handle highly hazardous chemical intermediates. Ability to wear full body PPE including acid suit, full face respirator, and hood. Ability to load and unload bulk liquid chemical trucks and rail cars. Ability to communicate through multiple layers of an organization. Computer literate. Benefits and Compensation The hourly rate for this position is $26.14.
