Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Position Summary

We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide care and support to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) residing in a certified group home setting. DSPs play a critical role in helping individuals achieve greater independence, maintain their health and safety, and actively participate in their community.

The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, and committed to providing person-centered care while fostering dignity, respect, and inclusion for the individuals they support.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and meal preparation as needed.
• Support individuals in developing and maintaining independent living skills.
• Administer medications and document medication administration in accordance with agency policies and state regulations.
• Complete required documentation, daily notes, incident reports, and other records accurately and timely.
• Assist with community integration activities, recreational outings, appointments, and social engagement.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive home environment.
• Follow individualized support plans, behavioral support plans, and health care plans.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, family members, and other healthcare professionals.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and maintain compliance with all agency policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Must be able to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as required by the position.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license required.
• Reliable transportation required.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required.
• Ability and willingness to transport individuals in agency or personal vehicles as needed.
• Successful completion of all required state and agency training programs.
• Must pass all required pre-employment screenings, including:
• • Criminal Background Check
  • Child Abuse Clearance (if applicable)
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (if applicable)
  • Motor Vehicle Record Check
  • Drug Screening (if applicable)
