Regional Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

General Description: The Regional Environmental Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for overseeing environmental, health, and safety compliance across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role focuses on minimizing workplace hazards by performing safety and environmental audits, ergonomic assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, accident/incident investigations, and safety/health training, driving safety culture on the production floor, and ensuring strict compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The position requires roughly 25% overnight travel to conduct audits, support site leadership, and lead incident investigations across the designated Tri-State manufacturing region.Specific Responsibilities: Establish and maintain required environmental health and safety (EHS) programs and policies to ensure the health, safety, and security of employees and assure compliance with applicable governmental regulations and corporate policies.Provide EHS direction, assistance, and support for all management and manufacturing staff members.Respond to emergencies, injuries, incidents, and/or crisis (on call basis) within the facility and lead efforts to prevent future loss.Lead investigations into workplace injuries, illnesses, and near-misses, conduct root cause analysis and coordinate corrective and preventive actions. Conduct safety and environmental audits, inspections, and incident investigations; recommend corrective actions to eliminate hazards and improve programs and processes.Lead ergonomic initiatives within the facility by conducting ergonomic assessments of all manufacturing tasks, recommending ergonomic improvements and maintaining a log of lifting and hands/arms ergonomic scores; leading efforts to reduce scores and high risk tasks per Corporate Loss Prevention guidelines.Oversee regional manufacturing permits, including air emissions, stormwater management (SWPPP), spill prevention (SPCC), and hazardous waste disposal (RCRA).Lead the safety Ambassadors in establishing and creating a zero accident and injury culture for all team members and provide follow-up and response to all employee safety suggestions.Conduct safety and environmental training per corporate guidelines, including equipment operation, emergency planning, Lockout/Tagout, hazard communication, PPE, First Aid, and safety workshops.Handle all safety reporting and recordkeeping for the facility including the OSHA 300 injury log, monthly injury, and First Aid reports for CLP, safety training, waste manifests, industrial hygiene monitoring, accident/incident investigationsand data management software (e.g., Benchmark|Gensuite). Partner with operations and engineering to build safety into design decisions and improvement for new equipmentAssist with workers' compensation claims, injury management, and return-to-work programs.Perform other duties as assigned within the nature and level of work.Job Qualification Requirements (Education, Knowledge, Experience): Bachelors degree in industrial, environmental safety, or related discipline with a minimum of three years of experience working in a manufacturing environment with multisite responsibility preferred. Must have working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, federal, and state regulatory compliance requirements. Must be willing to travel up to one week per month. Strong interpersonal skills required to interact with all levels of staff including manufacturing, supervisory, and management staff. Excellent oral and written communication and facilitation skills. Effective computer skills necessary with ability to use Microsoft products. Ability to inform, educate, and influence employees to support corporate goals and initiatives. Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with people, projects and issues. Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly. Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and/or situations.Professional certification such as Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) preferred.Education Requirements: Bachelors Degree (4 Year).Years of Experience: (3 to 5) yearsexperience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, ideally supporting multiple locationsPhysical Demand Requirements:Ability to spend extended periods walking production floors, standing on concrete, climbing ladders, working at heights, wearing required PPE, and accessing rooftops. Occasionally required to stand, walk or sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
