Mechanic

Job Summary As a mechanic, your role is influential to the organization’s ability to keep communities safe and clean. You will perform maintenance work and truck repairs in accordance with factory and industry standards. You will run diagnostics on vehicles, communicate and work closely with team members to meet company goals. Key Competencies Good problem‑solving skills to address unexpected issues Desire to work as a team, while helping and interacting respectfully with each other Responsibilities General inspection of vehicles, trailers, equipment; run and analyze diagnostic testing; minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers. Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspections, tire rotations and oil changes. Knowledge and understanding of ABS systems, suspension, steering, leaks, wheel alignment and balancing, electrical systems. Inspect and replace bearings, lights, brakes, coolant. Maintain parts inventory; request purchase orders for ordering of parts and necessary items. Collaborate with team in diagnosing problems with vehicles and plan repairs. Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles. Coordinate with external repair shops. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Certifications Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in diesel mechanic. Valid Class B driver’s license; Class A is a plus. TWIC card preferred. ASE Diesel Certification preferred. Physical and Mental Requirements Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb. Must frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds. Must climb stairs and ladders and may occasionally deal with heights. Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, ability to present facts, and written communication. Must work in both office and physical jobsite settings; confined spaces when needed. Must wear personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection.
