Job Description

The Field Service Technician travels daily to customer sites across New England to evaluate, maintain, and repair pumps and related equipment. This role combines hands-on mechanical work in the field and in the shop with accurate documentation in a CRM system, all performed with a strong focus on safety and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Travel daily to customer locations to evaluate the condition and performance of pumps and related equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues with pump systems using troubleshooting techniques, schematics, and blueprints.
• Perform maintenance and repair of pumps and related equipment at customer sites, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
• Provide support for pump start-ups, including setting up and adjusting pump operational programs to meet customer requirements.
• Utilize a CRM system to promptly and accurately complete service reports, documenting work performed, parts used, and recommendations.
• Evaluate pump products in the shop, including disassembly and inspection, and prepare detailed evaluations and repair estimates.
• Perform complete pump product repairs in the shop, from component replacement to reassembly and testing.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide after-hours field service support as needed.
• Use and maintain basic hand and power tools safely and effectively during all service activities.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, completing every task with safety as a top priority.
• Communicate clearly with internal teams and customers about findings, repair options, and next steps.
• Support production and maintenance-related activities as needed to ensure timely completion of work.

Essential Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience working on industrial equipment or similar machinery.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics for pumps and related systems.
• Experience performing field service work, including on-site maintenance and repair.
• Competence in preventive maintenance practices for industrial equipment.
• Ability to use and maintain basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Comfort working with a CRM or similar system to complete service reports and documentation.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record to support daily regional travel.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in all work activities.
• Effective communication skills to interact with customers and internal teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• OSHA 10 certification.
• Pump technician, field service technician, or similar industrial service role.
• Experience with pump systems, including installation, start-up, and repair, is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with production and industrial environments.
• Ability to work independently in the field and manage time and travel efficiently.
• Comfort participating in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support.

Work Environment

This role is primarily field-based, with daily travel throughout New England to industrial customer sites, as well as time spent in the shop for evaluations and repairs. You will work in industrial environments around pumps and related equipment, using basic hand and power tools and standard diagnostic equipment. The position requires flexibility to travel regularly and to participate in a rotating on-call schedule for after-hours support. Work conditions may include noisy areas, moving machinery, and varying site conditions, where adherence to safety procedures and appropriate work attire, including personal protective equipment, is essential.

This is a Permanent position based out of Fairfield, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $68000.00 - $83000.00/yr.
