Job Description
Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry

Schedule

Nights, 36 hours per week, 3x12 hour shifts (18:45 - 07:15).

Assignment Details

Contract length: 13-26 weeks accepted. Floating requirement: Will follow unit rotation. Weekend requirement: 4 per 4 weeks (flexible).

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience on the cardiac floor required.
• Traveler experience required unless traveler has more than 24 months of cardiac experience.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Skills: Cardiac Telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, Sheath Removal, Interpretation and Management of dysrhythmias, Post MI care, Pre/Post Cardiac Cath, Management of Cardiac drips (no titration and titration), Chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac), External CPAP/BIPAP, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management.
• Preferred skills: Arterial line management, Wound care/Wound Vac, Charge experience.
• Unit systems: Pyxis, EPIC, SBAR.
• MUST pass EKG testing prior to start.

Responsibilities

• Provide skilled nursing care to patients on the cardiac telemetry unit.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, interpreting cardiac rhythms and acting as necessary.
• Administer medications and manage IV drips per facility protocol.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding cardiac conditions and post-operative care.
• Prepare patients for procedures and provide post-procedure care and monitoring.

Compliance / Notes

Contract staff will be assigned to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team. Reporting to work may be required during catastrophic events or disasters. Parking details will be provided. Dress code: Navy scrubs.
