The ideal candidate should possess a proactive and confident approach to patient care in a high-acuity environment, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice.Unit InformationUnit Type: Cardiovascular Intensive CareBed Capacity: 20 bedsNurse-Patient Ratios: 1:1-2Electronic Medical Record: CernerShift DetailsShift Length: 12 hoursWeekend Requirement: Every other weekendHoliday Requirement: Rotates with core staffShift Start Times: Days begin at 0545, Nights begin at 1745QualificationsExperience: Minimum 2 years in Cardiovascular Intensive Care, including at least 1 travel assignmentCertifications Required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)Basic Life Support (BLS)National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Role ResponsibilitiesProvide high-quality nursing care to patients, including pre and postoperative care for patients undergoing cardiac surgeries such as CABG, LVADs, and TAVRs.Monitor patients on critical drips, including Swan monitoring and CRRT.Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Hospitalists and Intensivists.Manage complex patient situations confidently and seek assistance as needed.Participate in patient care processes adhering to established protocols and standards.Additional InformationOrientation: 1-2 days of floor-specific orientation with a preceptor.Floating: May require floating to other facilities within the region, though mid-shift floats are rare.Uniforms: Scrubs must be navy; under shirts can be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets, if worn, must be navy.Support Services: Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy services available 24/7.Patient Care Devices: Must be proficient in reading and interpreting EKG strips and managing ventilators.
