About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Cardiovascular Surgical Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 2 full years of experience in a high acuity CVICU - Completed at least 1 travel assignment Description: This position requires a proactive and confident nurse. Candidates must work all assigned cases without special accommodations. The unit accommodates 20 beds with a typical nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:2. Telemetry skills are essential, including the ability to read and interpret EKG strips. Ventilator management experience is required. There is a hospitalist or intensivist available in-house. Pharmacy and respiratory therapy services are available 24/7. Nurses will generally not take patients while acting as charge nurse. Weekend work is required every other weekend, and holiday shifts will rotate with the core staff. Self-scheduling is utilized, although schedules are finalized by management. Travelers may have the opportunity to access and trade shifts with other staff members. Common diagnoses include pre and fresh postoperative CABG, LVADs, IABP, CRRT, and critical drips. Travelers will not be assigned LVADs. Core staff will validate skills for CABG recovery, IABP, and CRRT, with IABP not always requiring 1:1 care. There may be a need for occasional floating to other facilities.
