LICENSED INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICIAN – TRAVEL JOURNEYMAN / LEVEL 4

Serve Electric | Short/ Long Term Travel to Job Sites (Based in Iowa to start)

ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are hiring Licensed Electricians (Journeyman/Level 4) for a long-term Iowa project running approximately one year. Each candidate must be a licensed electrician – either an active Journeyman/Master Electrician license, or an active Electrician Apprentice license, either issued by the State of Iowa or issued by a state that Iowa recognizes on a reciprocal basis. We need properly licensed electricians on-site in Iowa to stay compliant whenever state inspectors come through.

Reciprocal states currently accepted: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.

We're specifically looking for candidates with future Foreman potential- electricians who are ready to take ownership of a job site, lead a crew, and grow into a Foreman role. If you're a licensed Journeyman who wants to join a team that takes industrial work seriously and is invested in developing you into a leader, we want to hear from you.

Industrial experience is strongly preferred for this role. While residential and commercial electrical experience can provide a foundation, it does not fully translate to the demands of this position. We are seeking electricians with proven industrial experience-specifically in troubleshooting, large conduit and wire pulls, motor controls, 480V systems, transformers and working within industrial environments who can contribute effectively from day one.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Directing and managing electrical work on industrial job sites, with the opportunity to step into a Foreman role
• Leading and supervising crews on assigned job sites
• Training and mentoring newer team members and apprentices
• Inspecting installations to ensure quality and code compliance
• Upholding and enforcing job site safety standards (PPE, OSHA, NEC)
• Troubleshooting electrical issues from start to finish, often without complete schematics or full operator information
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, rough sketches, plans, and specifications
• Wiring 120V, 480V, and low voltage systems
• Working with lighting, transformers, motor controls, and switchboards
• Measuring, threading, bending, and running EMT and rigid conduit (½" – 4")
• Sizing feeders and managing tooling requirements per job
• Communicating clearly with customers, the service manager, and the team
• Organizing and planning projects of varying scale
• Attending job site meetings and contributing to project coordination
• Conducting employee evaluations

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

One of the following is required:

• Active, state-issued electrician license: either Journeyman/Master Electrician license or Electrician Apprentice license issued by the State of Iowa or by a reciprocal state (listed above)

Plus all of the following:

• Demonstrated hands-on industrial electrical experience (verifiable, not just listed as a skill)
• Ability to troubleshoot from start to finish without relying on schematics or complete customer information
• Proficient with 120V, 480V, and low voltage systems
• Working knowledge of motor controls, transformers, lighting, and switchboards
• Experience with feeder sizing requirements
• Ability to measure, thread, bend, and run EMT and rigid conduit up to 4"
• Strong working knowledge of NEC code
• Ability to interpret blueprints, plans, drawings, and rough sketches
• Comfortable working with minimal supervision
• Capable of training less experienced electricians
• Leadership qualities and interest in growing into a Foreman role
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and ERP systems
• Willing and able to travel to job sites
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license
