Education Support Professional – Applied Behavioral Analyst (ABA) The Education Support Professional works under the direction of the Building Principal or special education administration to support special education students in a calm and non-reactive environment. Qualifications Associate degree or higher. At least two years of post‑secondary education, equivalent to at least 48 credit hours from an accredited higher education institution. Met a rigorous standard on one of the formal Massachusetts‑endorsed assessments (Parapro or WorkKeys). Completion of Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training course required. RBT certification preferred. Familiarity with Special Education/IEPs and 504 plans preferred. Experience with data collection/documentation preferred. Responsibilities Manage students with aggressive behaviors, applying behavior de‑escalation and safety skills and implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans as developed by the BCBA, Adjustment Counselor, and/or Teacher. Facilitate small‑group instruction, including toileting/diapering students and providing a variety of specialized learning techniques and ABA activities tailored for individualized instruction. Monitor student progress and collect data, documenting academic and/or behavioral information; assist with graphing and analyzing data such as incidental teaching, behavior chains, shaping, chaining, and differential reinforcement in inclusion settings. Model appropriate tasks, skills, and behaviors for students; implement verbal and visual supports. Apply ABA principles and methodology throughout the day. Maintain daily communication with classroom teachers and special education liaisons; collaborate with educators and BCBAs to monitor skill development. Participate in district‑provided job‑related training and perform other duties assigned by the Building Principal or Central Office Special Education Administration. Computer proficiency, including Google Suite and other required programs. Patience, tact, and good judgment. Ability to identify sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Ability to succeed in a complex and changing environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Working Conditions Employees frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, and talk or hear; may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Responsiveness to emergencies is required. The work environment can be moderate to loud, with multiple adults engaging with students simultaneously. Employment Classification Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Classification: Non‑Exempt. Terms of Employment 183 work days, as specified under the provisions of the Weymouth Educators Association Unit D Collective Bargaining Agreement.
