Postdoctoral Multiphysics Modeling & Simulation Scientist/Engineer (Postdoctoral) Location: University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH (Onsite) Job Overview The P&G Digital View email address on click.appcast.io seeks a Modeling & Simulation Scientist/Engineer to drive product and process innovation through multi‑physics, system‑level models. The role focuses on understanding, designing, and optimizing complex, coupled systems involving mass and heat transport in heterogeneous media such as human skin, moist air, and multilayer materials and fabrics. Key expectations include translating physical phenomena into predictive, end‑to‑end process models that support decision‑making, scale‑up, and performance optimization. Essential Functions Develop equation‑based models that capture coupled transport, thermodynamic, and kinetic processes. Define system boundaries, assumptions, and interfaces across product, process, and environment. Apply systems thinking to link material design, product performance, and usage conditions. Use models as decision tools for innovation, design space exploration, and process optimization. Required Education PhD in Engineering (Chemical or Materials Science), Physical Chemistry, or a related field. Required Experience Ability to formulate first‑principles, system‑level models describing physicochemical phenomena, including transport processes, reaction kinetics, and thermodynamic equilibria. Experience in process modeling, systems analysis, and model‑based optimization. Strong programming skills in at least one scientific computing language (e.g., Python, R). Experience with process systems engineering, model integration, or multi‑scale modeling frameworks. Experience with numerical methods such as finite difference, finite element, or finite volume and equation‑oriented process modeling environments (e.g., gPROMS, Modelica, Pyomo). Experience with biological systems (e.g., skin or soft materials). Additional Qualifications Considered Strong systems mindset, framing complex multi‑physics problems as integrated engineering systems. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, partnering with scientists and engineers to define model scope and requirements. Capability to translate complex technical outputs into actionable insights. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
